1. MAJOR RELIGIOUS SUPERIORS FOR MEN HOLD CONVENTION

Plan for the celebration of Christ the King, Patron of the Diocese of Marbel, was drafted by the Preparatory Committee (Prep Com) on 26 July 2004 at the Bishop’s Residence.

Date and place: 22 November (Monday), Notre Dame of Marbel University, Gymnasium, Koronadal City.

Theme: “Celebrating the Eucharist with Mary”. This is the theme approved by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) last July 11, 2004 for the Eucharistic Year and Marian Year jointly scheduled on August 15, 2004-2005. 48^th International Eucharistic Congress is scheduled on October 10-17, 2004 in Guadalajara, Mexico with the theme “La Eucaristia, Luz Y Vida del Nuevo Milenio”, The Eucharist, Light and Life of the New Millennium. Year 2004 is the 150^th anniversary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception (1854 by Pius IX).

Objectives: (1) deeper communication with Christ, the King and Mary, the Immaculate Virgin; (2) participants committed to live the Eucharist; and (3) deepened bonding among the delegates.

Main activities: chanted morning praise; lecture-open forum on the Eucharist; mass; shared meal; and poster-making contest.

Ten Committees were formed. Over-all person responsible is Fr. Romeo Buenaobra, Vicar General. The Finance Committee under Fr. Bonifacio Ampoyas, Diocesan Finance Officer, was tasked with raising P30, 000.00.

We enjoin everyone to pray and cooperate “ad maiorem Dei gloriam”.

2. FIVE VICARS FORANE (VF₅) INSTALLED

Bishop Dinualdo Gutierrez installed five (5) Vicars Forane during the concelebrated Mass on 2 August 2004 at Christ the King Cathedral.

Very Rev. Fr. Ronilo Huesca, Allah Valley Vicariate. His area of responsibility (AOR): Parishes of Norala, Sto. Niño, Surallah, Banga, T’boli and Sta. Cruz Mission (Lake Sebu).

Very Rev. Fr. Francisco Romano, Koronadal Valley Vicariate. AOR: Tantangan, Marbel, Tampakan, Tupi, Polomolok, Cannery (Good Shepherd).

Very Rev. Fr. Bernard Parreño, Metro Dadiangas Vicariate. AOR: Dadiangas, Bula, Lagao, Calumpang, St. Michael’s (City Heights).

Very Rev. Fr. Antonio Chua, GAMMA Vicariate. AOR: Glan, Alabel, Malapatan, Malungon.

Very Rev. Fr. Greto Bugas, MAKIMAMI Vicariate. AOR: Maasim, Kiamba, Maitum, Milbuk.

Twenty-eight (28) diocesan priests concelebrated. Some acted as witnesses. Let us pray for a fruitful ministry.
