POLICIES ON CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
(based on DPA-I Decrees)
 

 

PROVISIONS ON CATHOLIC SCHOOLS (CS)

 1.       CS (diocesan and religious) to integrate their V-M into that of Diocese. Each school to promote the educational mission of the  Church, in general, and thrust of the Diocese in particular.

2.       CS to be parish-oriented. To encourage students and teachers to get involved in parish ministries and programs: BEC, catechetics, Youth. An outreach program participated in by teachers and students to be developed by every school and implemented in coordination with the parish.

3.       CS to provide on-going spiritual formation for administrators, teachers, faculty and staff, so that they become more committed to their Mission as Evangelizers.

4.       CS in the Diocese to provide quality education and formation in the faith not only for students but also for teachers, staff and people in the community. Formation program of the school to be grounded on integral evangelization and its 3 components of renewed catechesis, renewed social apostolate, and renewed worship aimed at producing witnessing Catholics - men and women, imbued with strong Christian commitment and social orientation.

5.       Every CS in the Diocese to make Religion as core curriculum (PCP II, #639). For this purpose:

·         Everyone in the school (administrator/teachers/staff/students) must be involved in the process of integration.

·         School plans are formulated and implemented.

·         Teachers are given proper orientation.

·         Campus Ministry program is strengthened.

·         Catechesis and Religion in the school are intensified.

·         All teachers are religion and values-oriented.

·         Values education for students is deepened.

·         Vocation to the priesthood and religious life is promoted.

6.       Every CS to promote building of Christian Community in school. For this purpose:

·         Religious atmosphere to be fostered within school campus and classrooms.

·         Religious celebrations to be incorporated into school activities.

·         Retreats and recollections for students, faculty and staff to be organized.

·         Participation by teachers and students in planning and decision making to be fostered.

·         Transparency in financial matters to be strongly encouraged.

7.       CS to form closer coordination and constant dialogue with parents such as through the PTAA, to make them aware of role as primary educators in the faith of their children.
