POLICIES ON COCF AND ITS MINISTRIES
Based on DPA-I Decrees

 

 COMMISSION ON CHRISTIAN FORMATION

Nature: highest diocesan body assisting the bishop on matters pertaining to Christian formation in the diocese.

Functions:

1.       To set direction on the Christian formation of the faithful in the Diocese.

2.       To help formulate guidelines and policies regarding Christian formation.

3.       To ensure implementation of guidelines and policies by all concerned.


CHRISTIAN FORMATION CENTER (CFC)

Nature: Secretariat of COCF and diocesan service center of the various ministries under the Commission.

Functions:

1.       To formulate plans and programs that will implement direction, policies and guidelines set by the COCF.

2.       To implement, monitor, and evaluate plans and programs it has formulated

3.       To establish linkages with other groups, agencies, and institutions of related concerns.

4.       To facilitate and/or provide basic services to the ministries of parishes.

 

PROVISIONS ON FUNCTIONS OF MINISTRIES UNDER THE COCF

GKK MINISTRY

1.      Organize GKKs

2.      Tap and train potential leaders of the GKK

3.      Facilitate creation, implementation and coordination of programs and ministries: LLL, LLM, FLM, CATZ, KRISKA, etc. of each GKK

4.      Sustain the formation of GKK officers and members

5.      Monitor and evaluate the GKK

6.      Mobilize the GKKs for parish-wide or diocesan-wide activities

 

KRISKA MINISTRY

1.      Recruit, train and support Kriska “alagads”

2.      Design, implement and monitor effective training program and sustained Christian formation program for Kriska alagads for them to become better evangelizers

 

FAMILY AND LIFE MINISTRY

1.      Oversee and coordinate programs and apostolates related to Family and Life of the ROMs and of other groups

2.      Design, implement and monitor educational and training p[programs for the promotion and defence of family and life

3.      Provide pastoral care for abused spouses and children, and for single parents such as widows, widowers, unwed mothers,  husbands or wives of partners working abroad, and for separated husbands and wives

4.      Offer advise and support to troubled couples and family members

5.      Inform parishioners about the existence, functions and procedures of the Diocesan Matrimonial Court

6.      Conduct pre-cana seminar

 

CATECHETICAL MINISTRY

1.      Recruit, train and support catechists who will provide the students/pupils in the school and/or the young children in the GKK chapels basic instruction on the Catholic Faith

2.      Design, implement and monitor effective training program and sustained Christian formation program for the catechists

3.      Regularly monitor and assess the catechetical instructions

4.      Provide [parents proper catechetical training so that they too will become effective catechists to their children

5.      Assist in the pre-sacramental instructions except pre-cana seminar

 

YOUTH MINISTRY

1.      Design, implement and monitor effective and sustained Christian formation program for the youth that they may grow in authentic Christian spirituality

2.      Provide venues for the youth to participate in the life and mission of the local church (diocese, parish, GKK)

3.      Help the young become involved in socio-economic and political action for social transformation in line with the social teachings of the Church

4.      Extend pastoral care to young people who are troubled or with problems

 

CAMPUS MINISTRY

1.      Build and strengthen an authentic Christian community of students, faculty and staff in the campus

2.      Conduct on-going Christian formation program for the students, faculty and staff

3.      Facilitate and organize religious activities in the campus

4.      Encourage the youth in private and public schools to participate actively in the different activities of the parish

5.      Coordinate school programs and activities with those of the parish such as liturgy, outreach programs, and the like.

 

RECOGNIZED ORGANIZATIONS (ROs)

1.      Participate in the realization of the vision-mission-thrust of the Diocese

2.      Get involved in the activities, programs, projects and ministries of the diocese, parish and GKK

3.      Coordinate their activities and programs with the respective ministries and programs of the diocese, parish or GKK

 

RECOGNIZED MOVEMENTS (RMs)

1.      Provide venues of genuine conversion, of life-changing encounters with the Lord for the “unchurched” and the Church lay workers

2.      Lead renewed faithful toward a more responsible and active participation in the life and mission of the local church (diocese, parish, GKK), particularly in its ministries and programs

3.      Coordinate their activities and programs with the respective ministries and programs of the diocese, parish or GKK
